Grow Wild Youth Panel

If you're aged 18-25 and keen to get more involved with Grow Wild, we need you! We are on the hunt for enthusiastic volunteers to take part in our 2020 Grow Wild youth panel.

Since 2014, Grow Wild has funded and supported 258 young people to run their own creative projects inspired by UK native plants and fungi. And every year, a panel of young people decides which creative projects will be awarded grants from the many applications we receive. We think it's really important that young people are at the heart of this decision-making.

What does joining the youth panel involve?

By joining a Grow Wild youth panel, you will become an important decision-maker. Working as a team, the panel will choose which of this year's project applicants will receive a grant from Grow Wild. By taking part, you will be inspiring many more young people to get started on their project journeys and sharing the wonder of our UK native plants and fungi!

It’s also a great way to:

  • add a new experience to your CV
  • connect with others
  • develop teamwork and communication skills
  • play a really important role for Grow Wild.

Tell me more…

We’ll be holding our next youth panel in September and you’ll need to be available for a whole morning or afternoon. So please keep this in mind when expressing an interest.

The panel will come together initially online, facilitated by the Grow Wild team, so there won’t be any requirement to travel. You just need access to the internet and the ability to attend a virtual session.

Who will be chosen?
You need to be aged 18-25 and living in the UK, but no previous experience or knowledge of plants or fungi is required. The Grow Wild team will provide a full introduction and all the training you need to take part in the panel.

We are looking for people who:

  • have lots of enthusiasm
  • enjoy group discussions and sharing ideas with others
  • want to make a positive difference to communities and the environment
  • would find the experience useful for future personal projects or career goals

Don't be put off if you don't match everything on this list - we really want to hear what motivates you, as an individual, to join the youth panel.

How do I get involved?

If this opportunity sounds of interest to you, please complete a short application form - https://bit.ly/2PlwVPy - by the 17th August 2020.
