Maidenhead Big Read

Have you heard of Maidenhead’s Big Read? No?

Well we're big fans of reading, there is truly no greater pleasure in life than curling up in a big armchair and getting lost in a good book, magazine or comic. So you can imagine how ecstatic we are to announce the second Maidenhead's Big Read, coinciding with World Book Day in March. Maidenhead’s Big Read is planned as a new annual event that aims to engage and unite local people of all ages and backgrounds with reading, with a particular focus on those children and adults who are currently missing out on all that a love of books can provide. Organised by Maidenhead Community Book Festival, this event will help to improve the attainment of children in our schools, bring families and neighbours together to share books, stories and activities, and will increase reading and associated wellbeing in our community.

You can find out all about the event and the exciting authors, illustrators and celebrities taking part on our website and also book to attend any of the sessions – you could even come and hear The Rt Hon Theresa May MP and why she loves to read!

We’re also launching a great event that you can get involved with from the comfort of your own home and office… Drop Everything and Read!

At 10am on Thursday 5 March 2020 (World Book Day) we invite you to join us in dropping everything and picking up a book. Children, teachers, parents, work colleagues, join in wherever you are! Drop everything and pick up a book for just 5 minutes. Let’s get all of Maidenhead reading at the same time! All we ask is that you share your photo of you and your friends reading on Thursday 5 March on our social media pages!
