Slough, Windsor & Maidenhead Initiative - Connecting Communities

A new initiative has been launched this Summer across East Berkshire in the three towns of Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead - SWAMI17.

The three towns comprise some of the most diverse communities outside London in terms of ethnicity, wealth, faith and culture. SWAMI17 will be a way of bringing these diverse communities together to strengthen friendships and promote closer cooperation across the three towns.  SWAMI17 is an initiative driven by the Slough Faith Partnership, Windsor Humanists and WAMCF.

The first SWAMI17 events to be held are a series of Community Street Showcases in each of our town centres during July and we are now inviting all Community Groups to get involved by booking themselves a stall at any of the Street Showcases in WINDSOR on Saturday 8th July, SLOUGH on Saturday 15th July and/or MAIDENHEAD on Sunday 23rd July (in the Community Tent of Maidenhead Festival).

We are looking for a broad range of Communities Groups to be involved in each Street Showcase with wide participation by as many local community groups as possible from Minority Support Groups, Religion, Faith & Belief, Social Groups, Local charities, Well Being. This is an exciting opportunity for your local community group to become more visible for one day in our town centres to showcase your activities and contribution. It is a fantastic opportunity to maximise interaction with potential new members and supporters given how busy our town centres can be on a July Saturday, whilst also energising your existing members manning your stall. We will provide the covered stalls, your Community Group should supply the energy, people and enthusiasm!  We already have some groups booked in and the number of stalls are limited so please get your stall booked soon!

Please email if your Community Group wants to get involved.

WINDSOR Saturday 8th July

SLOUGH Saturday 15th July

MAIDENHEAD Sunday 23rd July
